Project Science – P3b!

This week we had loads of fun learning about how Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone! We used paper cups and string to explore how vibrations travel to produce noise. We thought about whether changing the length and thickness of the string would make a difference and how loud or quiet we were. Here are some photos of us in action!

Generation Science with P2b

P2b had a fantastic time today in class learning all about ‘marvellous magnets’. This workshop was fun, interactive and we learned lots of new and exciting information such as magnetic attraction and repulsion, fields and poles and we were able to work with our classmates on lots of fun experiments. Through different activities in class we were able to explore magnetic forces… take a look at all our photos from today.

P5a- Supertaster Science Experiment

This week P5a took part in a science experiment to find out if we were supertasters! It is part of a BBC schools science programme to encourage pupils to take part in science.

We had to put some blue food dye on our tounges and count the number of papillae (the small pink bumps) that showed up. The more we had on our tounges the more likely we were a supertaster!

Our class had 4 non-tasters (they can still taste though, don’t worry). Here they are!

We had 8 tasters. Here they are!

And we had an amazing 9 supertasters! This is much more than the national average, only 25% of people are thought to be supertasters. Here are our supertasters!

Below we have some pictures of our class just after they had taken part in the experiment (if you look closely you might see some blue tounges) .

P6a Learning Log w.c. 9/1/17

Hannah’s Learning Log

This week I have learned a poem about new year’s resolutions. I think I did well at joining up my writing. I really enjoyed writing the poem.

In literacy I have learned how to fix mistakes on a piece of writing. I think I did well at spotting all the spelling and punctuation mistakes.

In topic, we were planning our Earth and Space topic. We had to say what we already know and what we would like to find out. We also got to give our ideas about how we’d like to learn about our topic.

This week I have enjoyed music and P.E because in music were tapping the person in front of us a rhythm that got passed to us and I enjoyed P.E because we are doing gymnastics and I love gymnastics.

We also did some multiplication quizzes on the Smart board. Some were easy, some were a bit tricky and some were really difficult. We were allowed to work the difficult ones out on our white boatds.

P7b Learning Log Sep-Dec 16

We began our science topic on Micro-organisms. We created an experiment using yeast, water and sugar. We had a bottle filled with warm water and one filled with cold water. We mixed in the sugar and yeast and attached a balloon to the neck of the bottle.

The balloons with the warm water quickly began to inflate. The yeast mixture produced carbon dioxide which inflated them.

The mixture with the cold water did not inflate straight away but the next morning we found that the balloons had inflated.
