# P1/P5 Storyboards 13.01.17

Pupils from P5a very kindly came down to Primary 1 to read stories which they had created on their own storyboards!

P1a and P1b worked in pairs to make storyboards of The Gingerbread Man, which they read back to the Primary 5s.

We enjoyed working together with the older children!

# P5a- Spanish

We had some Spanish students come in to tell us stories in Spanish today! We heard the story of the three little pigs and learnt some new Spanish words. Here are some pictures.

# P5a- Robbie Burns Music RAP video

In Music we have been learning to put a Scottish poem into a rap. We had to sing it and circle the words we had to make louder. The poem we chose was Adress to the Haggis.

# P5a – Aiden’s Island he would like to be stranded on.

# P5a- Learning Log 27th January

This week in mathematics I have been learning about subtraction chimney sums. Here is an example 127-84=43. I have been learning to count in 2s. This week in literacy we have been learning about how to punctuate speech marks correctly in a small text message that we wrote ourselves. It was fun.

I think science went well because half of our class are supertasters witch means we have more than ten taste buds on a part of our tongue.

Something that I think could have gone better is mathematics because I need more practice at chimney sumn.

# P5a- Supertaster Science Experiment

This week P5a took part in a science experiment to find out if we were supertasters! It is part of a BBC schools science programme to encourage pupils to take part in science.

We had to put some blue food dye on our tounges and count the number of papillae (the small pink bumps) that showed up. The more we had on our tounges the more likely we were a supertaster!

Our class had 4 non-tasters (they can still taste though, don’t worry). Here they are!

We had 8 tasters. Here they are!

And we had an amazing 9 supertasters! This is much more than the national average, only 25% of people are thought to be supertasters. Here are our supertasters!

Below we have some pictures of our class just after they had taken part in the experiment (if you look closely you might see some blue tounges) .

In reading we made puppets of some of the characters in our books. We then used the puppets to act out scenes from our book.

# P5a – 3D shapes

We made skeletons of 3D shapes to look at their properties. It was hard to get the plasticine to hold it together. Then we made nets of 3D shapes to look at the faces.

# P5a – Semaphore

We learnt about the different ways that people communicated when they were at sea as part of our Dazzle topic!

We used semaphore flags to send messages to each other.

# P5a – Learning Log 19th January

Learning log – Paige and SamThis week in spelling we have been doing work on ea two of our words were bread and spread in it helped us a lot. This week in topic we have been learning about continents, we made a game about continents a fact is that china has the most countries touching its border in the world. The class was sad because in ICT our P5 folder got deleted and Miss Firth could not get it back.

I Think topic went well because we learnt a lot.

I think maths could of gone better because it was hard.
