Health and well-being
In PE we have been working on our gymnastics skills. Mrs McLaughlin teaches us some exciting new balances!
We have also been doing a lot of work on resilience and how we can become more resilient in our lives. Check out our learning logs each week where we will post examples of what we have been doing.
In Maths we are working hard on our times tables. We use smart board games to build up our speed and work as a team against the clock! We also do a lot of work on our mental addition and subtraction strategies and discuss the strategies we use with Miss Donohue.
In Primary 4b there is a big emphasis on reading. We have ERIC (everybody reading in class) at the start of every day. We also enjoy doing big writing where we use our imagination and different stories we have read and write our own. We focus on VCOP and ensure to use it in all of our writing.
Homework in Primary 4b consists of spelling, reading and maths. A grid for spelling is used and the children can do one activity from the grid per week. Similarly for maths, activities are outlined on a grid which aim to strengthen the child’s mental maths knowledge- these are very effective if done orally with your child. New reading books are sent out every Tuesday. Homework is handed back on a Monday to be marked before new homework can be set for the following day. In addition, at the beginning of a new topic, a topic homework grid with fun activities will be sent to pupils. The children do just one activity from this grid but can do more if they wish! Please get in touch if you have any questions!
Keep an eye on our class page for updates on all of the work we have been doing!
