P1b Learning Log – wb: 19.03.18

This week P1b enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day.

The whole class enjoyed watching P3b’s assembly.  They have learned a lot about Edinburgh.  They told us that Arthur’s Seat is an extinct volcano and they told us about their visit to the castle.  They also sang “Three Craw’s”.  Well done P3!

Here are some of the children in p1b playing one of their favourite maths games at the SmartBoard.  It’s called Adventure Man and is a counting game.  They were very good at taking turns and were helping each other play the game.  Well done!

What’s going well this week.

World Book Day and the assembly were fun!

Lots of children went to the movie night and had fun watching Boss Baby.  It was great fun coming to school in your pyjamas and eating popcorn.  We hope the parents enjoyed their chilli night.

We have started to learn about time.  We are keen to learn to tell “o’clock times”.

We have been learning ‘ee’ and ‘ea’ sounds which are found in words like ‘feet’ and ‘heat’.  We like learning new sounds.

In maths we have been learning to ‘count on’.

P1b Learning Log – wb: 05/03/18

This week Millie, Lexi, Orla, Daniel and Darcy enjoyed planting and watering seeds with Miss Flockhart. They learned about how plants grow.

Millie and Sophie have enjoyed learning to do an underarm throw in P.E.   Sophie has been practising at home, too.

Darcy is pleased that the children are playing nicely in the playground and Daniel thinks that they are behaving well in the corridors, too.

Lexi always looks forwards to getting a new reading book and she enjoys practising her reading.

Orla has a favourite maths game on the smartboard.  It is the maths basketball game and we have been using it to practice adding two numbers.

We all enjoyed watching the p4 assembly.  The play was fantastic and they also sang “Three Craws”, with some new verses that they wrote themselves.  Well done p4!

Everbody enjoyed it when we got a surprise visit from a very nice lady, also known as Miss Binnie. She read “Tabby McTat” to the whole class and helped us paint some leaves to make a beanstalk.  Thanks Miss Binnie!

The class are still enjoying school, but Darcy would like to change some things in the classroom to make it look different.

P1b wb: 15.01.18

What is going well?

Sophie liked watching the video of the jumping lemurs.  She also enjoys blowing up her space bubble when we do PE.

Mia said that when we were practising different ways to jump in the hall we were getting lots of good exercise.

Sonny also enjoyed jumping, especially when we were jumping in and out of a hoop.

Jamie likes playing at the water tray.  He has been finding different sounds on the toy crabs.

Orla has learned her sounds, but she still enjoys practising them.

Cody likes to play tag outside in the playground with his friends.

Darcy enjoyed making a toy in class.  Everyone made a thaumotrope which is a scientific toy with two pictures. When you spin the thaumotrope the two pictures seem to combine to make one picture.

What could be better?

Millie would like the teachers to read more stories to the class.

Mia thinks that we should keep practising our sounds.

P1b Learning Log Wb: 4th December 2017

What is going well?

Sophie and Mia enjoy sitting on the carpet with the class to learn new sounds and number work.

Millie enjoys learning about new topics and likes learning all sorts of new things.

Millie also enjoys making new friends.

Cody likes playing games during P.E.

Stephen enjoys learning about numbers and learning new letters (sounds). He also makes some fantastic creations with the building blocks.

Jamie likes to play the ‘Bubbles – Count to 100’ game on the Smart Board.

Daniel still enjoys running the daily mile in the playground.

What could be better?

Stephen and Jamie say that we have to remember to keep being nice to each other.

Sophie says that saying, ‘Stop it!’ is a sensible way to respond if someone upsets you.  If you upset someone you should say, ‘Sorry!’ and maybe give that person a hug.

Felix doesn’t like it when people play football in the playground.  It takes up space and the ball sometimes hits someone.

Darcy, Emma and Lachlan would like to have a house play area in both of the P1 classrooms.

Lachlan enjoys running around in the playground because he can make lots of noise.

Stephen says that learning his numbers is hard, but he likes learning with his friends.

What could be better?

Archie thinks that it would be good to have more iPads so that the children don’t argue over them.

Latisha would like to do baking with her friends when they make playdough in the class.
